The BEST SKATERBOARDERS IN THE WORLD

Rough surface, substandard spots, nobody keen to skate that day, worn out shoes or flat-spotted wheels - these are all legitimate complaints for skateboarders and ones that I hear daily. I use them all too. "You guys are going to the fucking skatepark?! Count me out", whilst it's usually more due to a hangover than my passion for keeping real street skating alive, we all have gripes and make excuses sometimes.

Without getting too earnest, sometimes when I'm contemplating quitting because I don't have a clean white T-shirt to complete my Gino from Trilogy outfit, I suddenly realise I am being a massive prick. I am not going to proclaim that I am constantly thinking about those less fortunate than myself, as I don't, but when you look at what the skateboarders in this article all have to deal with on a daily basis, it actually does put things into perspective.

I'm sure none of these skaters would want any special treatment or extra compassion whatsoever as they are all just doing what they love to do - having fun on their skateboards.

Ladies and gentleman... The Best Skateboarders in the World

JON COMER

Jon was was just four when he was hit by a car, which somehow managed to run over his foot - three fucking times?! Eventually the doctors couldn’t do anything else but amputate when he was eight. Nobody would blame him for letting this accident dictate and limit his life, but it did no such thing. Jon rips. The first time I saw him was in a 411 and he was killing vert - next thing you know, he's sitting there with one leg. Mind blowing. Oh well, 50% less shinners I guess, and 100% consistant one-foots. Amazing

TOMMY CARROLL

Tommy Carroll is actually blind. Not partially sighted, he cannot see a thing. He was born with retina cancer and lost the sight in both eyes at the age of two. He started skating when he was ten. I honestly can't think of a more hindering disability when it comes to skateboarding, but he's somehow made it work. A truly happy and content young lad, I sincerely hope that the amazing feeling of making a trick is tenfold for Tommy. He seriously could be the greatest skateboarder on earth. Legend.

OG DE SOUZA

Missing an immunisation as a child and losing all strength of his legs through Polio, Og literally grew up on a skateboard. Now pro for over 10 years he shows the world how to be happy and that there really are no excuses. The first time me and my friends saw some Og De Souza footage we were screaming at the screen, it seemed fake at first. He does everything - including nose blunt slides just using his hands. That's so dope. Og is a true O.G.

italo romano

Italo made the semi finals at Tampa Pro in 2012. He recently cleared the megaramp at Bob Burnquist's house and then threw down a giant kickflip to fakie on the huge quarterpipe afterwards. So fucking tight. Oh yeah, and he's got no legs.

Daniel Pelletier

This kid is a brilliant. Daniel Pelletier is a teenage skater who is paralysed from the waist down. Through some amazing combination of crutches, co-ordination, arm strength and a whole lot of determination, Daniel manages to skate better than many people that have full use of their legs. Word.
