J CASANOVAJereme Rogers is a ridiculous human being. Amazing skateboarders are usually quite unique individuals, but every now and then we get a real treat in the form of someone that is more interesting when they're not skating than when they are. Sure, watching Jereme skate is a good time, but if you want pure entertainment then click on the numerous interviews, videos, retirements and rap clips that the internet holds. The gift that keeps on giving, Jereme doesn't care what you or I think of him and isn't afraid to speak his mind. We recently asked him a few questions to see what he's been up to lately and he replied almost immediately. Unfortunately some questions got lost and were missed out, so we re-sent them, but Jereme refused to answer. So here is a short interview with the man J. Cassanova. Alright J Casanova, how are you man? Happy So starting from the incident - did that whole thing put you off drugs? I was never on drugs. And in regards to the 'incident' you're referring to, it was mushrooms, which grow naturally from the earth. Drugs are manufactured. The rap game had you consumed for a while, now you have a happy medium with that and skating - does it feel good to be skating again? Skating also had me consumed for a while, and it wasn't the rap game, but music that I wanted to focus on for some time. Now I'm comfortable doing both, I am at very least acknowledged as an artist, even if not a good one, at least one. For a while I was just considered a skateboarder rapping. But the main reason I retired was from some insight I had which basically relayed to me, if I were to jump out that window in faith, as I did, it would align me with some higher fate, as it did. Though I myself am the sole perceiver of what's going on inside me, & what qualities the struggles of retiring and giving everything up has afforded me. Everyone else is perceiving from their own vantage point, clouded by whatever judgments & life experiences they have had, and I accept that. Did you miss skating? No You're skating with some of the heaviest hitters in the game right now, did you fall a bit behind with your time off the board? I am still fully capable of winning contests, skating at whatever level is considered the highest, & innovating if I so choose. Right now I skate cause I love it, and do so without the pressures of company or industry requirements, or those that come with solely trying to be the best. My concerns are with being the best human I can be, & neglecting no areas of my life. Who do you think is the best skateboarder in the world? I don't think there is one. Skateboarding is subjective, as is music, & just like music, there is no is all be all/the best, but there is the greats, those who sit in the top handful, and I think anyone who knows the craft knows who they are. Who's on the team right now? Kyle Nicholson, Terell Robinson, Jani Laitiala, & our gem of an Am Travis Harrison... and yours truly, I, Saint Germain Your take on Wenning/Lockdown? What's that? It's well documented that you've made a shit load (couple million if the lyrics are to be believed) from skating. You still got any saved from those days? I don't save, or lie. Is selfish keeping you in the lifestyle you've become accustom to? Only a fool becomes accustom to things. All things physical are subject to change. What about rap... You making any loot from that? I have, but with music, I've hardly even taken my first step Word around town is you fucked a thousand bitches - how is it just having one now? I have one of the best...it feels good I'm pretty excited about the next stage in your life. I think we all are. What's next for J Rog anyway? Tell us about your new brand, Love Affair. Some things I can't divulge, I've learned it's better not to try an sell what you're doing before you could actually "sell" what you're doing. As for Love Affair, it is at least at first, an apparel brand, though it needs no boxes... and it shall do great things. And @dearbambi? She's pretty hot! Smoking... and capable of whatever she wants to do, and in route to do so. Any pro skaters you might want to call out at all? Hi Paul, & Pj You seem pretty into God on your Instagram. Have you met him personally? All one has to do to meet God is sit in stillness long enough for their mind to subside, & allow that eternal, changeless presence to rise up in them. Alright man - any last words for your fans? Chase Dreams, fear is the only thing that can stand in your way, & love is the only thing that gets that out of your way. Live free, love wholly. And for your haters? Mentally copy & paste the words above from the previous question. Cheers Jereme, Muckmouth
