Bank skating is easy. If you are having a day where nothing grinds on the ledge or jumping down a set of three gives you the shits, hit up a bank. Even if you can't backside flip, I fucking guarantee that you will be able to smooch one out on your local mellow bank. The awful skatepark locals can always be found shuffling around on delicate inclines - roll up, flip something you'd have no chance of rolling away from on flatground, land completely stationary and then after a good second, will your self to slowly roll towards your homies for awkward and unwarranted fist bumps. That said though, some banks are totally different - steep, harsh and unforgiving, Beryl is one of those banks. I've been (un)fortunate enough to skate this thing and if you haven't, please don't be deceived by some of the warped fisheye angles - this fucker is steep as hell and far from smooth. Anything fakie or nollie on it is a pisstake. I came out of that school with an obliterated nose and a lot more respect for those that have skated there. Here is a montage of everything we could remember on this legendary spot. As usual, please feel free to call us out on all the tricks we forgot. NB: The bank to curb has been deliberately left out, as that's another story entirely - but just as hard to skate. Props to Klein, Griffin, Ricks and Sanchez and anybody else that got tricks there. Post script: Since going to press or whatever that's called on the internet, we've been inundated with skate nerds (some even referring to themselves as 'The Champ' about some omitted flip trickery on Beryl. So I hearby apologise to Mike Carroll - switch frontside flip and fakie flip. Chico - switch heel, a different backside nollie heel, switch frintside flip and switch frontside heel, Klein's blind side flip over the anti hip (pictured below) and Kareem has a sick half cab flip and a backside heel in New World Order. Sorry.
